Yasmin

About

Born to a German mother and Persian father in London, UK,Yasmin grew up in Iran and Germany. After finishing High School and graduating from University in Tehran, she moved to Berlin, Germany where she studied Media Design and Yoga.

Yasmin travelled extensively to interesting places and after moving to Michigan, she took editing and filmmaking classes in Ann Arbor and produced several short films. A busy mother of 3, Yasmin spends much time raising her children and is interested in kids education, personal growth, culture, and volunteering for schools and other organizations.

Dance was always a big part of Yasmin’s life. For her, dance has cultural and social aspects, especially in Persian culture dancing is very important. She would dance with her kids goofily during the day and dance them to sleep at night.

She signed her kids up for dance classes when they were 3 years old with Heather Brook and through her was introduced to Mary Lynn and the Between the Bones Studio. Yasmin and her kids are avid dancers in the adult and children ensembles.

She is part of several cultural groups in Denver where she learned and taught a scope of dances from Folk to Modern dance and helped organize multiple shows and performances.

To me dance is birthday parties, weddings, happy moments. Celebration.

Dance connects people – young and old, far and near.

Dance is community.

Dance is also shaking off, and letting go. Healing.

Dance is the art of moving.

“There is a bit of insanity in dancing that does everybody a great deal of good.” – Edwin Denby
